The image below was drawn by me, but when you zoom in you will feel the rawness of the intersections The lines don't flow as naturally as in the above picture. Just looking casually, the first one isn't made from two circles, but rather slightly flattened ellipses (would that be oblate ellipsoids?), actually teardrop shapes. That eases the transition between the straighter connectors and the more circular lobes. But neither are perfectly straight nor perfectly circular.
