walt.farrell Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 Spell-checking and Auto-correction are both applied based on the Language you have specified for the text in the Character panel (or in a Text Style). Auto-correction in Settings is different, though. It provides a list of automatic corrections to make if the text you are working on is a particular language. It does not matter that German shows up in the Settings panel. If the text is in English then the Auto-Correct list for English will be used automatically if Auto-Correction is enabled. For Spell-Checking: If you select some text that is already typed, and change the Language, it should work. Or if you make a Text Frame and set the Language before you type the text. But if you're using Text Styles you will also need to change the Language in the Text Style, not just in the Character panel. For the red lines: turning off the Menu item Text > Spelling > Checking spelling while typing should help. But if you use Publisher you will still have Preflight warnings.
