Gray overtone when printing

Recommended Posts

This picture should show you what I mean. I'm trying to print a musical score but keep getting this gray background tone. I've adjusted levels and gamma but results are inconsistant and not well visualized by the software. Is there a way to simply turn off this tone? It seems to be an automatic adjustment but I can't find any way to change it. I'm printing to PDF and then to my HP Laserjet printer.

Thanks

Here is a real stab in the dark. You may be seeing the effect of the transparency. The notes and clefs etc are black, the background is clear and your viewer is showing a grey background.

Another thing to try would be to use File > Export... and export to PDF instead of File > Print > Print to PDF.

Could you set the background to transparent to see if there is a checkerboard pattern underneath the music. In Publisher it is in the Document Setup window.

Does the HP print the grey?

Could we see the layers panel for that page in Publisher/Photo/Designer? Which application are you using?

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Does it happen if you Export to PDF, rather than Printing to PDF?

Can you share your Affinity document with us? Also, where did it come from?
