Daniel Boros Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 I created several .aftemplate Files as Templates for Affinity Photo 2. They worked fine until this week, when I suddenly wasn't able to open them with Affinity Photo 2 anymore. I get the following error: "The file couldn't be opened" I added a screenshot of the error. What can I do to open these Template files again? Quote
walt.farrell Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, @Daniel Boros. Where are the files stored? That may be relevant, and since you've completely removed that information we can't tell. What OS do you use, and what release of Photo 2 do you have? Have you made any changes to these recently (updates, etc.)? Also, there was one report from a user using Sonoma 14.1 while it was still in beta: Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Daniel Boros Posted October 26, 2023 Author Posted October 26, 2023 (edited) Hi Walt, thanks for your quick response. It's not related to MacOS Sonoma, there's an older version of MacOS installed. I added some screenshots of the MacOS and Affinity versions. Affinity has Access to "Schreibtisch" => German for "Desktop" where the files are stored. Daniel Boros Posted October 26, 2023 Author Posted October 26, 2023 The update to 2.2.1 is quite recent. I don't recall opening the .aftemplate files successfully since the update. The templates were created with an older version of Affinity Photo 2. Quote
Dan C Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 Welcome to the Affinity Forums @Daniel Boros & sorry to see you're having trouble! The error message you've shown certainly seems to align with the secondary users report of this issue on macOS Sonoma, though I note you're using Big Sur. Currently, I've been unable to replicate this issue internally - can you please confirm for me: How are you trying to open the .aftemplate file? Are you using File > Open, drag and dropping from Finder, or are you using the Template section of the File > New dialog? If you move the .aftemplate file to a different location (ie your Downloads folder), do you see the same error? If you download the attached .aftemplate file that I have just created, does this work as expected, or show the same error? Is your Desktop (and other locations on your mac) being synced via iCloud, or similar? Many thanks in advance test pixel.aftemplate Quote
