Sid J Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 I read as many posts about AP PDF hyperlinks as I can, I don't see an exact match for my problem. Publisher 2.2.0 Upgrading to 2.2.1 later today. OSX 14 Sonoma PDF Export settings attached. The limited DPI is being used because it is a working draft for a client to comment on. I have a 20 page publisher file, nothing complex, a contents page, 27 images, text and just three hyperlinks to external URL's (on two different websites). The AP file is CMYK/8, the colour profile is GRAcoL2006_Coated1v2.icc I checked "go to hyperlink target" each hyperlink works. I export the PDF and the links work in OSX preview (on two different Apple desktop machines), the links also work on an iPad and an iPhone. When windows users at different locations on the internet (not all within one specific company network) try to use the hyperlinks they do not work. I'd really like to get to the bottom of this, it seems really odd to me. Quote
walt.farrell Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 We'll probably need to know what the URLs are that work for you but not for the Windows users, and exactly what error they get and what PDF viewer they're using. Really, it would be best to have a sample .afpub document and the PDF you exported from it to demonstrate the problem. Without that it will be difficult to figure out your problem, I believe. It would also help to know specifically what happens when they try one of the links, like if there is an error message & if so what it says. Maybe a company or the country they are in is blocking access to the URL for one reason or another. Sid J Posted October 24, 2023 Author Posted October 24, 2023 Well this gets even weirder, but I suspect that it is not an AP problem. I sent the PDF way elsewhere (Fredericton) to a windows machine running Firefox, all links open OK, they also open on another iPhone. One user locally (Quebec) has just one of three links working, clicking the other links results in no error message, just what appears to be inaction. There doesn't appear to be blocking issues, because the users can type the web addresses and access the websites. I suspect that the issue is a weird 301 redirect problem on the landing website (the site that the two bad links point to). Maybe a "www" or "non www" redirect problem. I have notified the landing website admin, they are checking. For clarity, when I get to the bottom of this I will post a solution. Thanks for your input. Old Bruce and walt.farrell 2 Quote
