Cannot open JPEG-files on MAC OS Sonoma

In that other thread they state that they can open JPG files without issues, it's just documents, so it might be a different issue, but who knows.

When I open Affinity V2.2 with my MacBook Pro with installed OS Sonoma, there is no further action. Nothing happens, meaning no file will be opened. No restart helps.

Is Affinity still responsive after you try to open the JPG photo or is it locked up trying to open the file?

Could you try creating a new photo, saving it as JPG, and re-opening it? It can be blank, this is just a test.

Could you test with a few different files in different formats? If it's locked up trying to open it you would have to force quit it first.

If it's locked up could you leave it for an hour or two and see if it ever opens?

Now for some long shots:

Could you check your Settings > Performance options and if it's not already set this way, disable Hardware Acceleration and change Display to OpenGL.

If you are using light mode, could you try changing from light mode to dark mode? This is truly grasping at straws.

Good luck.

Please try opening the app with the Control key held down and when the Clear User Data screen appears click the Clear button

also if you  right clicking a JPG and use the Open With option an select the Affinity app do you get the same issue.

If your files on on iCloud Sonoma fixed a bug with iCloud which can cause the files to take a long time to open the file if the iCloud optimization is set to off, the following article has more information on this
