SyPhi013
I've just installed Samona on iMac Pro and now can't load any Affinity 2.2 documents! It just sits there saying document loading, but never does!

Staff stokerg Posted September 29, 2023 Staff Share Posted September 29, 2023 Hi @SyPhi013and Welcome to the Forums, Where are your files stored, locally or on an external USB drive/Cloud or Network drive? If not locally, do they open if you move them to your Desktop or Documents folder in MacOS? Also, did you install Affinity directly from our site or via the Mac App Store? Can you attach one of your files that isn't opening to the Forum or upload it to our Dropbox here so I can try opening it on Sonoma?
SyPhi013
Hi stokerg, Fixed the issue by removing all Affinity files from iMac and reloading Affinity 2.2 and then accesing them from an external drive. As I use iCloud for all the iMac backup, it was downloading files from iCloud, but never finished, just kept downloading! Not sure where the glitch is? Oufti
Before Sonoma, there was a "bug" in iCloud that permitted people to evict files manually from their local drive to iCloud drive even if their setting was not to optimize Mac storage (when it's set to on, eviction of unused large files is automated but, of course also possible manually). — Many people used that possibility to create a deported storage solution (cloud archive) instead of a shared storage (what it's meant for). Sonoma changes that (corrects it). So if someone with Optimize Mac storage set to off had some stuff only on its iCloud drive and upgrades to Sonoma, all that stuff will be downloaded on local storage. This can take much time (and space)… More details on Howard Oakley's blog: https://eclecticlight.co/2023/09/29/do-you-use-icloud-drive-are-you-intending-to-upgrade-to-sonoma/ stokerg and Leigh 2 Quote Affinity Suite 2.5 – Monterey 12.7.5 – MacBookPro 14" 2021 M1 Pro 16Go/1To I apologise for any approximations in my English.
