How do I get true black (#000000) in Affinity Design?

Recommended Posts

I think the color that I had been using that I thought was black, isn't actually black I think it's more very dark brown.  (maybe very dark brown occurs more in nature that true black, but I need true #000000, in this case).

I happened to paste an image to something with a black background in another app and the black from Affinity Design doesn't look like it's truly black,  (I discovered this late in the process of a project).  I'm doing something in black and white and I need the blacks to be true black and to match the color of black text, like in a word processor.

Please help.   How do I get true black and also greys that are just various combinations of black and white vs   browns or something else?

I think I might want to start with the fact that what I thought was black in affinity doesn't even look black when pasted to a black background, in a different app, even on screen.

I guess if doing the KDP thing isn't a lot harder, than trying to fix the main problem,  maybe I should try to do that.  I guess I'd like to know how to do the correction to the color both ways (with and without using the KDP).  I think I might have neglected to convey the extent that I really don't know what I am doing with Affinity design and how to manage colors.

I feel like maybe just getting to #000000 might be enough to make the image (pretty simple black and white  images) look okay next to black text.

Now I'm also wondering if I get the black part right, am I also going to have a potential problem with white,  if I use white, instead of transparent, when printed on a color printer,  I'm not expecting this, but if there in another potential problem, I might like to try to deal with it, at the same time.

Is there a file format that I could export to that would be pure black and white or some other relatively easy way to get everything into" black and white"  (and shades of grey)?.

Have you confirmed what black is being used for that background in that other app?

Also, when you create a black on Affinity, how are you doing it?

Can you share a simple sample document with us that has the black you're using?

(Thank you)  I have not confirmed what black is being used as the background in the other app, but it seems way more black than what I thought was black from Affinity.  The other app is Curio for Mac.  the image of the circle seems to be the best representation of the Color.

I got used what looked like black from the swatches tab on Affinity (I'm getting the impression that that was likely wrong.  it seems like my grays always looked off too, in the same way the the black looks off to me now.
