I guess Serif thinks the users are to simple to distinguish between the flood fill and vector flood fill or the normal fill tool.
Hey, let's call it the gradient tool.

Perhaps they need to make them all the same tool as @anto showed and be done with the adding of filling tools, instead make the workflow more user friendly.
One fill tool for bitmap/gradient/transparency/(vector)pattern/(vector)color/ asset(vector)fill/stock(vector)fill.
All reachable from the context toolbar or swatches/color panel in both the current panels as in the fx panel.

I think Serif wants us to be only creative in finding workarounds to use their tools.

I have an affinity with Jumping through Hoops and over Humps.
Dealing with Speedbumps and finding Work-A-Roundabouts.
I'm getting dizzy from all that spinning and jumping.

Exactly! Someone with clout at Serif thinks the users are stupid.

Years ago (before Publisher existed), I suggested the filradiant/gradill tool should be named Fill Tool in all the Affinity apps since it was already named Fill Tool in Designer and did various types of fill, not just gradients, in all apps. The response from a forum moderator (no need to name them here) was that the name Gradient Tool was chosen for Photo to prevent users becoming confused when there is also a Fill command.

Maybe that would be the same multitude of users as those who are confused by the existence of both vector Curve objects and the Curves Adjustment - in other words, nobody, in my experience.

I see the Gradient Tool's primary function as being to add various types of gradient fills to objects.

And I see the additional options of applying a Solid Fill or a Bitmap Fill as simply conveniently added options to save having to use a different tool or workflow to add those types of Fills

Since its primary function is adding gradients, I welcome the name change

Maybe if Serif just got rid of the Solid Fill and Bitmap Fill options in this tool people would be happier to call it the Gradient Tool, or maybe not?

That's right. Because it makes sense.

Yes, Gradient Tool would be the ideal name if it handled gradients only. I strongly doubt there is any plan to remove the other functionality, though.

Well let's hope not.

I for one welcome those additional thoughtful options added to my Gradient Tool

Just lay down a sheet for shaping an object.
Well this nearly gives me a stroke or should it be a line?
curve or stroke==line.
layer or closed curve == object or shape.

I think Serif is to much concerned to be different.
I rather see they adjust the workflow with tools that everybody understands and make them homogenous.

What is move data entry for a name?
To me it sounds I can move a piece of text from one part of text to another.
Object creation data entry? wtf.

Place tool ==import external content or plain import.
So why is there a menu item called import content?
This menu item should be in settings and/or the account settings to import personal settings from previous builds/versions or the like.

I mean you did say this thread caused you to seek help. Imagine how Serif must feel sometimes.

General Response: Rather than discussing about which change is the worst, maybe we can suggest a new tool name? Whoever wins gets the most Likes on their post.

My Try: Color Fill Tool?
