Claes
Now it append for the third time in a short while. Corrupted file Seriously I'm getting tired of this. You spend hours in a project and then suddenly it all disappears What´s wrong ?? I thought this was fixed a long time ago. I don´t want to buy Publisher V2 just because to save a corrupted file in Photo V2 I tried to download the file but it was to big. //Claes
Dan C
Hi @Claes, We’re sorry to hear that your Affinity document is no longer opening for you. Our latest beta contains file format improvements for how the Affinity apps load and save files, to hopefully reduce the chances of this occurring - though I do understand that you may not wish to use a beta for production documents due to potential instabilities. Please upload the file to us using the below link and we’ll take a further look at the file to see if we can recover any of its contents. https://www.dropbox.com/request/2d5QiO7DMvvhh43Cz039 We would obviously also like some additional information to see if we can work out the cause of the problem and stop it happening in future. To assist this process, as well as uploading your file, please can you also tell us the following: 1. Which Operating System version are you using? 2. Which version of Affinity did the file last get saved in? 3. What drive type was the file last saved to? Local disk USB disk/Flash disk Google Drive folder OneDrive folder iCloud folder Dropbox folder Network location Other (please specify) 4. Any other information you think would help us try to find the problem? Once you have uploaded the file to the above link, please reply here to let me know. We suggest that you check to see if you have any backups of the document available in case we’re unable to recover the file. Many thanks in advance. Claes
W10 64 Photo V2 Local disk 500GB ssd Toshiba Uploaded 2 files that crashes every time. A long time ago you saved one file for me by open it in Publisher. So there must be All info in the file. So... why ? Hope you can find a solution. As I said, it is getting very frustrating. Dan C
Thanks for providing those for me, and the further information - this is certainly helpful! I can confirm I've been able to recover these documents using a slightly different method and I will return these to you now through Dropbox. 4 hours ago, Claes said: A long time ago you saved one file for me by open it in Publisher. So there must be All info in the file. So... why ? Both files you provided were missing the File Headers, which the app needs in order to successfully load the file. These can occasionally be lost if the app closes/crashes unexpectedly whilst the file was in use. It also appears as though your masks may have become corrupted due to this (causing the crash) so I'd recommend checking your returned files carefully and possibly recreating your masks from scratch as required. I hope this helps
Claes
Thank you Dan No problem with the masks. It was easy. So in the future ?? Can I in some way add the "file headers" myself or do I have to use Aff. Publisher? Was it there you fixed it ?? And how about the crashes? It was along time since the file just crashed and I had to start all over unless there was a recovery file. It obviously looks like it still crashes. When will next update come where you have rewritten the program? I can see there were a lot of q-marks this time !?!? Thanks a lot //Claes

Was it there you fixed it ?? Apologies for the delay, as mentioned above our team are making changes to the way we load and save files to try and reduce this happening in the future - these changes should hopefully be available in an upcoming update. I cannot see any immediate causes for concern with your current setup, from the information you've provided. Occasionally Affinity Publisher can repair these files using the 'Add Pages from File' method - though the Support team also has access to other internal development tools to attempt to repair these files, which were needed in this case. Unfortunately the .afphoto files themselves do not provide any information regarding the crashes - do you have any crash reports generated by the app at the time this occurred? Providing your crash report here may allow me to provide suggestions for how to reduce/avoid these crashes. We don't currently have a release date for this update, but our team are working to release this as soon as it is ready. This is not however a 'rewrite' of the app, as that would take considerable amounts of time and development - which is not something we have planned at this time, as far as I'm aware. I hope this clears things up!
