I've done a search and can't find similar issues, so here goes...

(1) Why does Photo not open files in the order they were taken? Whether I load from the programme, or I load from the file foler, they always load in a random manner, which when editing makes it a bit of a PITA to edit. I have to use the double arrows >> to pick the files in order, and after hitting "develop" it then loads another random file on a random tab. Is this something that can be looked at to make a smoother work flow?

(2) Sometimes my RAW files will go dark. It's like someones changed the exposure and knocked it right down, but actually no settings have moved. Today I tested it again, and have found that although no settings have changed (nothing shows as altered on the editing panels, everything's at "0") I actually have to preset the reset button for it to return to the original settings. It's really wierd.

Thanks all :)

When opening multiple files concurrently the apps currently populate the tabs in the order that the files finish loading in, which understandably can be quite random under certain circumstances, we do have an outstanding improvement logged with the developers for numbered files to be displayed in the tab order that they are numbered sequentially, so this will hopefully be improved in a future version.

There's a known bug in 2.1.1 where the last preset used in the develop persona is applied to the next image opened, but none of the preset settings have visually applied or sliders have changed. This issue is fixed in the current 2.2 beta and I'm wondering if you're experiencing something similar, could you perhaps try installing the 2.2 beta and seeing if this issue can still be replicated? The beta installs as a separate app along side the release version, i've linked the signup page below.

Thank you for the replies @NathanC!

Hopefully the developers can sort the tabs coming in in the correct order, that would be a great help! :)

I've just downloaded the Beta, so I will give it a try and report back - thank you!

I assume this is not specific to RAW format files, nor will it offer a way to open files using a tab order based on anything else, like an order based on the 'taken' or 'original' time stamps for photos, the date-time last modified or created, etc.?

Not specific to just RAW files, the improvement is specifically logged for opening numbered files (or any identifiable sequence in the file name) should be displayed in the order they are identified from left to right. I'll update the report to also request if other factors such as date created/modified/Date Shot metadata could also be optionally considered.

I've seen reports of the file ordering issue going back for many years, but I hope it gets "sorted" soon, and not necessarily for numbered files, but alphanumeric order (for example) as well.

I understand that AP wants to load the files as fast as possible, but when loading a batch of files, it seems like it could at least sort the tabs as it loads them. So someone would only have to wait for it to finish loading to see all the files in the requested order.
