Performance when large Asset category is open in Assets panel

While looking at a couple of other topics (here and here) I installed a large Asset pack of icons from this post. The .afassets file is about 31 MB.

In  V1 or V2 (or 2.2.0.1931) switching to that Asset category in the Assets panel takes about 15 seconds on my laptop machine. My total assets.propcol file for 2.2.0.1931 is about 5GB, so if you'd like that as part of diagnosing these issues I'll need a Dropbox link.

It would be nice if switching to that category could be made faster.

The main reason for posting this, though, is another aspect that I've confirmed, with this recipe:

1. Have a much smaller Assets category showing in the Assets panel.
2. File > New, and click Create.
3. The new document's tab and content is displayed almost instantaneously.
4. In the Assets panel, switch to that category. As mentioned above, this will take about 15 seconds for me.
5. File > New, and click Create.
6. After about 3 seconds, the screen flashes as something happens.  Edit: At this point, it's not a flash, but the new document has appeared, but the document tab is not yet opened. The document tab appears much later (step 7).
7. After a total of about 21 seconds, the new document's tab and content is displayed.

So, not only does it take a long time to switch to that Asset category, but if that category is active, it takes an additional 20 seconds or so to create a new file.

I'm not sure if this has been reported before, but this Asset pack provides a good test case for any fixes.

Tested with Designer 1.10 and 2.2 beta.

Yes, both desktop and laptop show this. Note: for V2, desktop has EXE/MSI version, and laptop has MSIX version, and both show this.

Here's a video from the desktop using V1. Note that at about 3 seconds after clicking Create the current document is overlaid with a blank document, but the document tab does not appear until much later at the end of the video.

I'll upload the assets.propcol, and update this topic when the upload is complete. Note:  It is not the size of the assets.propcol file that matters, as I've just noticed that on V1 my assets.propcol file is much smaller than on V2. It seems to be simply the size of the icons Assets category that matters.

Both files (V1, V2 beta) will be from the desktop. V1 file is uploaded, but it will be awhile before the 2.2.0 beta file finishes.
