(Invalid) Warning of Missing fonts (Designer)

Sometimes, if I open a document in AD (2.1.0 Mac M2, Ventura 13.4.1) I get a weird warning that a font I used is missing. But the font is there! 

Current case:
I just created a document with my default font Virgil, which I always use for my comics. I made the export and closed it in AD. I found a mistake in the exported PNG, reopened it and then I got the error message.

Affinity seems to change the font name within the document. In this case from "Virgil" to "Virgil 3 YOFF" I assume that this is the physical file name of the font.

I installed no software, no updates, didn't even restart the system. Just closed and reopened the file.

 

The bigger question is: Why isn't there a tool to replace a font in Affinity (like in Adobe products)? Even in Publisher you just have this "substitution". But no option for a permanent replacement...

You said you "reopened it". 

What did you reopen? Did you Save it as a .afdesign file, or in some other format. You didn't mention that part of your workflow.

As for changing the font, if you're using a Text Style you can change it there. Or you can select the text and change the font in the Context Toolbar.

Yes of course. Didn't even know that AD can save other formats. I hit CMD-S, closed the file, found the typo in the PNG and opened it again via recent files.

Real pain if you have 80+ layers...

As does Publisher, using Find & Replace.

Ideally you would be using Text Styles, and then it's a one-spot change in any of the Affinity applications.

It can, but usually it will be .afdesign. Some people do odd things and export to other formats (like PDF or PSD) rather than Saving in the native format, so because you didn't say what you were doing I thought it was worth asking

No, the font you have was not converted properly from the original WOFF2 font.
They changed some of the internal name fields, but not all of them.

The original WOFF2 actually has PostScript outlines, not TrueType.
So some of the TTF files out there may actually have PostScript outlines inside them.
This can confuse some applications (somewhat dim applications).
Unless they did actually convert the outlines.

I converted the original WOFF2 (properly) into an OTF.
This should work properly in Affinity applications: Virgil3YOFF-Regular.OTF.zip

This does not mean Affinity will still not mess-up the font matching,
but at least the font is not the fault.
