JRockwater
Wonky Page Number on page 9.afpub I've stripped out all the content of this document, and the page # on page 9 (page 11, really) insists that it needs to duck down a couple lines for some unknown reason. I tried re-creating this document from scratch, with brand new master pages, then slowly copied text content and then image content. And this happens again... although it was on a slightly different page when I re-created the document. Any clues? I've spent way too much time trying to figure out why the hell Affinity Publisher is doing this idiotic stuff.
MikeTO
Hi, I believe the issue is that you have turned on the Baseline Grid setting in the Paragraph panel - while there are reasons to use this feature, it's better to use baseline grid at the document level, so leave this one off and turn on View > Baseline Grid > Use Baseline Grid if you want to align all text to the grid. For some reason I didn't figure out it's not enough to clear and re-apply the master to the offending page. I just deleted the page and all new pages I created were then correct after turning off this setting. I really encourage people to make Paragraph styles for pretty much every bit of text in their documents. GaryLearnTech
It's actually quite simple - but horribly subtle. Only reason I looked for it is that a colleague recently did the exact same thing. The main text frame on the page has had your 1/4" Square Text Wrap applied to it - I assume you've been using this on elements on your page and you had a momentary lapse of concentration when selecting your target (been there, done that, got the tee-shirt) - and that's knocking the page number down a little. Set it back to None (the same as the other pages) and the page number instantly goes back to its expected location. Baseline grids may be involved too (I didn’t check for that) but the accidental text wrap is the main culprit - and is fixed by a single click. MikeTO
Gary wins the detective prize! 🙂 The baseline grid setting wasn't important, I just noticed it was applied and thought it was the cause.
