(Suggestion)Print dialogue box to stay open

Recommended Posts

I print product labels on a roll usually 500 at a time. i have about 100 different sorts I print
The labels are quite small and print settings have to be exactly right for them to print properly
I print a test label to check all the settings before a print run.
After pressing "print" the print dialogue closes. When you re-open the print dialogue box only some of the previous settings are maintained, but not all of them. I have to go through and manually check all the settings again.

Ideally I would then print a test label but...

It would be very handy if there was an option for the print dialogue box to stay open after pressing print

Hi, I don't think this is possible on macOS without abandoning the macOS-standard Print dialog and switching to a custom dialog. The app doesn't even know what you want to do until the dialog closes.

But maybe there's another way to do what you want. Maybe it would be possible for Affinity to remember all or maybe more of the settings you last used. Which settings aren't remembered between your print jobs? I think somebody else recently asked for a particular print setting to be made sticky so perhaps these options could be reviewed.

I have to print on the Windows version of Affinity as Epson have never produced a Mac driver for the C3500 label printer.
The Epson has a variety of small setting for web offset and the like that make setting up each print job a bit tedious
It would be a help it Affinity remembered more of the print settings perhaps being able to turn on sticky print settings

Corel Draw had a separate print preview tool that you could then print from and the preview stayed open with all of your settings.

Two thoughts:

  1. If you click Properties in the Affinity Print dialogyou'll get to the native Epson Printer Settings dialog. For all my Epson printers, that native dialog lets you save Printing Presets. If you did that, you could simply pick the Epson Preset you want the next time you print that kind of label.
    or
  2. The Affinity Print dialog also lets you save a Profile, which encompasses many of the settings in the Affinity part of the dialog. I'm not sure if it saves all of them, and I'm not sure if it saves anything from the Epson dialog.

I'm not sure if you've tried either of those, already.
