fabio.florian Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Is there any way in Affinity Publisher to add captions for indexing purposes? If not, any workaround available. Thank You. Quote
Komatös Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 Hi @fabio.florian and welcome to the forum. You can do this using numbering and bullets. Create a paragraph style for table numbering and image numbering. Select the numbering type and edit the text.Place the writing cursor at the beginning of the input field.Under Restart numbering at select manual only Enter a suitable list name under Name and check global Quote MAC mini M4 | MacOS Sequoia 15.5 | 16 GB RAM | 256 GB SSD AMD Ryzen 7 5700X | Sapphire Nitro+ RX 9060 XT 16 GB | 32 GB DDR4 3200MHz | Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (26100.4351) Windows 11 Pro on VMWare Virtual Machine (on Mac) Affinity Suite V 2.6.3 & Beta 2.6 (latest) Interested in a free (selfhosted) PDF Solution? fabio.florian Posted June 30, 2023 Author Posted June 30, 2023 @Komatös Thanks a lot and I was also able to continue the numbering across stories setting "Restart numbering" to Below current level. Now I need to make the list of Table and Figures as per my screenshot, but the Table of Content works only with Heading 1 or Heading 2.. Quote
Komatös Posted June 30, 2023 Posted June 30, 2023 @fabio.florian If you have the Studio tab Table of Contens open, under Styles select the paragraph style for which you need the table of contents. I was used to do so with other word processors but with APub, I can't select different styles (as source paragraphs) for different tables of content (TOC)? — E.g. List of chapters, then List of tables, then List of figures (not necessarily grouped altogether at the end). I would like to use, let's say, paragraphs styles Heading 1 & Heading 2 for the chapters, Heading 5 for the tables and Heading 6 for the figures. For example, after selecting and updating the TOC3 (List of the figures) by clicking the circled arrows in the Studio tab Table of Contents so that I'm certain the TOC3 is selected in the main window, I tick the styles I want to use as source for this specific TOC (Heading 6) but as a result all TOC are updated with the content targeted by this new style. 😲 In short : How can we have separated tables, with different contents based on different styles? One for the chapters, another for the tables, and another for the figures. Then just choose the appropriate Paragraph Text Styles for each. All of your TOCs have different TOC names, but they share the same TOC Style (TDM 3): If you create a separate TOC Style for each one, you will get what you want. The 3-bar icon to the right of the name (TDM 3, here) has an option to create additional TOC styles. Oufti Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 Thank you very much. I wouldn't have guessed that on my own! From my point of view, a style is a way of presenting things, not a criterion for determining content... Now I just have to work out how to transfer the TDM 3 formatting (font, spacing, etc.) to this new style... walt.farrell 1 Quote Affinity Suite 2.5 – Monterey 12.7.5 – MacBookPro 14" 2021 M1 Pro 16Go/1To I apologise for any approximations in my English. Oufti Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 (edited) You can choose to include the page number, or not, by clicking the three bars (so called "hamburger") button on the right of the chosen style names in the TOC sidepanel.
