ShadowCory
I am having issues on all of my hardware with Designer spontaneously zooming in without input. I have Win 10 on all three machines. Anyone else come across this? I thought it may be the trackpad or the tablet, but it seems to happen across both laptops with trackpads as well as desktops with Wacom tablets. I did a forum search for "zoom in" and "spontaneous zoom" and didn't see any reports of this exactly. But I may not have gone far enough back. I don't recall this happening in the earlier versions. I can do a screen capture if necessary. Thanks for any help!
Staff Callum Posted June 8, 2023 Staff Share Posted June 8, 2023 Hi ShadowCory, Welcome to the forums Are you using any drawing tablets et? If so does unplugging them solve this issue? If possible could you provide a screen recording demonstrating this problem so I can look into this further with you? Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
ShadowCory
@Callum My desktop has an xp pen 12 pro, Win10 AD 2.1.0, 2 monitors and the following specs from Windows About: Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6600K CPU @ 3.50GHz 3.50 GHz Installed RAM 32.0 GB Device ID CBCF86FF-0797-4689-A79B-213E727A2FE3 Product ID 00326-10000-00000-AA396 System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor Pen and touch Pen support XP Pen Artist 12 Pro Tablet Windows driver ver 3.4.5 Edition Windows 10 Home Version 22H2 Installed on 4/26/2023 OS build 19045.2965 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19041.1000.0 That's where this video was recorded, from the XP Pen screen, but sped up x16. The same thing happens on both my laptops too. One has a Wacom Intuos Small tablet plugged in and the other is an Acer 2in1 that has a touch screen as well as built in Wacom pen, a Concept D 4 Ezell. Same thing happens on all machines at various frequencies. Gets most annoying when it zooms while editing a point or shape. The sudden zoom displaces where the mouse is and takes the point or object with it. ADTimeLapse.mp4
carl123
Do you have any 3rd party software that is installed on both laptops and the desktop? Other software has been identified that can cause issues with the Affinity software This FAQ identifies some but not seeing your problem specifically listed, so maybe you have some "unique" software on your devices that is causing this zooming issue. ShadowCory
@Callum @carl123 Ok, yeah, I think that's it. It makes sense to me now, and I think I know a solution as well. It's not on your list, but the common factor is a little piece of software called "Caffeine." It's just a small utility that runs in the background and uses a key's upstroke every so often to keep the computer awake. I mainly use it while downloading large files from a networked repository, or when I'm installing big pieces of software (Think Autodesk Creation Suite, or allowing a game engine to compress/decompress projects). The docs say this: Quote The F15 'key up' event is used every 59 seconds. This is the traditional behavior so is well tested, but can cause issues with Putty sessions, PowerPoint, Google Docs or Smartsheet This default can be overridden by a commandline string that will allow the user to set it to another key. Hopefully one that doesn't interfere with running software. Here's a link: https://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/caffeine/index.html I've already tested the theory and this does seem to be the culprit. Turning it off stops the zoom. I think we can call this "resolved." Thanks for your help! Callum
