MCFC_4Heatons Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 Needs full non destructive workflow. Like Photoshop -> convert layer to smart object then all effects/filters including 3rd party plugins are effectively non destructive. It is a big miss, when you have to do workarounds like copying a layer before applying a non live filter. IMO, it is the biggest single missing feature. Quote
fde101 Posted June 6, 2023 Posted June 6, 2023 Non-destructive is already possible by not applying the filters at all - just leave them as layers. Applying a filter means you want to bake it in, which modifies the pixel data and is thus destructive by definition. Quote

The non-Live filters (from the Filters menu item on the desktop apps) don't have an Apply, and don't create Layers. They're destructive. The Live filters operate as you described. fde101 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU.
