in V2 when changing the text properties (ie Leading) both the Text and Text Frame become detached from the Master Page (which as I understand was a change made to resolve other Master object syncing bugs),

Thanks for clarifying this difference! Does it mean for V2 that a detached text Frame lost its link to a master object for all of its object properties, for instance size and position or fill colour included?

That's correct, the previously applied Master values will be retained in the Detached object, but further changes on the Master to Text or Text Frame properties will not be applied on the regular page.

Doesn't this limit the use of master page text frames in an unexpected way?

If I understand right, in V2 a master page text frame that gets populated with contents on a document page (+ auto text flow across several pages) would lose the link of its frame to the master as soon the text gets styled and thus all text frames on the document pages would not react on a change done to the master object for instance regarding master text frame size and position? Thus, for instance a change of a margin would require to get transferred to the single text frames manually across the entire document?

Or would those text frames still react alltogether if one of them gets resized / repositioned in "Edit Linked" mode?

That's partly correct as I understand it, applying contents on a local page within a master object would unlink the Text attribute, then changing the Styling would unlink the Text Frame attribute.

However Transform attributes are still linked, so resizing or transforming the position of the Master Page Text Frame would still update the local page Text Frame size and position :)
