AntonioGameiro Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 I have the following issues/suggestions regarding the crop tool: - I always use the crop mode "original ratio", but the crop mode always default to unconstrained, even if the previous crop in the same image was "original ratio" . I always need to change it back to "original ratio" - It would be nice to be able to save the crop position and size, so that I can use it for several images - Using the shift key does not preserve the crop aspect ratio, as it is supposed to do. PaulEC Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 Also Shift + O is supposed to cycle the orientation, but it doesn't seem to work! In 2.1 the Crop Tool was improved to remember the last cropping mode you selected. 2 hours ago, AntonioGameiro said: Using the shift key does not preserve the crop aspect ratio, as it is supposed to do. That also works for me, in 2.1. 44 minutes ago, PaulEC said: Also Shift + O is supposed to cycle the orientation, but it doesn't seem to work! It is supposed to cycle the orientation of the cropping overlay (enabled by O), and it does that, for me. You're right, of course! I was thinking of rotating the crop itself, but as far as I can see, that can only be done with the button on the context toolbar, not with a shortcut! walt.farrell 1 Quote Acer XC-895 : Core i5-10400 Hexa-core 2.90 GHz : 32GB RAM : Intel UHD Graphics 630 : Windows 11 Home Affinity Publisher 2 : Affinity Photo 2 : Affinity Designer 2 : (latest release versions) on desktop and iPad "Beware of false knowledge, it is more dangerous than ignorance." First, I was talking about Photo Persona, where 2.1.0 definitely remembers the prior mode, for me. What OS do you use? Next: Perhaps I'm confused. But the corner should slide at an angle to maintain the chosen ratio, when you press Shift. If it was not maintaining the ratio, you could move the corner in different directions. AntonioGameiro Posted May 30, 2023 Author Posted May 30, 2023 I am using Windows 10. I attached a small video where you can see that the following actions - the crop ratio is not maintained with shift, for unconstrained crop - then the crop is done with original ratio - after selecting a second image, the crop mode is still unconstrained by default ScreenHunter 48.mp4 walt.farrell 1 Quote

I understand what you mean, and I've recreated it. I'm not sure what confused me before. Sorry. 3 hours ago, AntonioGameiro said: after selecting a second image, the crop mode is still unconstrained by default That seems to be because you're in the Develop Persona. In the Photo Persona, the Crop Tool saves the mode information when you click Apply. In the Develop Persona, it doesn't seem to be remembered at all. There is, of course, no Apply button for Cropping in the Develop Persona, but switching to another tool or clicking Develop accomplishes the same thing as Apply in the Photo Persona, but neither of them remembers the crop mode information.
