Is there any way of accessing a file that appears to be corrupted in some way, and which causes Publisher 2 to crash? The file is a working document of text and images, 26 MB.

I've tried: a computer re-start, a new download of the application, opening the file in Designer 2. Nothing doing.

On opening the file the Missing Resources window appears. Trying each of the options results in a crash. As does just waiting a while to consider if access can be obtained another way. This is a problem I've never had to face before. Any help would be much appreciated.

Maybe post the file here or if someone offers to open it for you DM it to them? I would but sadly only have v1.

Does that crash AD too?

BTW, reinstalling an Affinity app almost never fixes anything.

Hi @PLKershaw,

Sorry to hear you're having trouble!

As above, we'll need a copy of your .afpub file to see if we can recover this document - can you please upload this to your reply here?

If you'd like a private upload link for the document, please don't hesitate to ask :)

Just for additional information for any readers, this is due to the Affinity app choosing to retain setting/system files when uninstalling - therefore a reinstall in most cases does not change the behaviour of the app, as it's settings have not changed.

This is why the Affinity support team recommend performing a reset to default settings, by holding down the CTRL key whilst the app loads, though this is not required in your case as it sounds as though the issue is with the document itself, rather than the application.

I hope this clears things up!

Thank you Dan C and R C-R

Yes, crashes in AD, too.

Since posting my post I have looked into previous postings, (which I should have done earlier but was too anxious to seek help). My project files were stored on a separate hard drive – something I didn't usually do – and this has been referred to as associated with AP crashes. And with no solution, I think… But if you now are optimistic of effecting a repair, then please may I have a private upload link.

Thanks for the further information provided - storing Affinity documents on external/separate hard drives or Cloud locations etc can occasionally cause corruption within these files and this is something our development team are investigating further, as we work to improve the stability of Affinity files when saved in such locations.

However there certainly is a possibility that I can recover this file for you, depending on the type of corruption that has occurred.

Therefore, can you please upload your document to the below link for me?

Once uploaded, please reply here to let me know. Many thanks once again :)
