Here are some samples I played around with in relation to the shape in question. The center of the object shaped like a 9 will not print. It was converted to curves from a font; but the only way I could get the center to print is either convert to a rasterize shape or copy and paste the shape over top and delete away the outer shape of the 9 leaving the center left from the 2nd copy and paste (did not do that in the file example though). The other shapes that are cutout where also converted to curves either before or after being subtracted etc; but all of them will print the center of the shape no matter how they were first created.

Hi @Necrons and welcome to the forums,

Try selecting just the nodes that form the centre circle of your No. 9 and then select Layer > Fill Mode and change it to Winding (Non-Zero) and then see if everything prints as expected... (It does for me)...

Tried this too but didn't get the hole in the nine.
Even tried reversing the line direction and other geometric options by separating the curves layer first.
In the end I exported as pdf and  that showed the hole in the (windows)preview.
Maybe the OP would be better off by exporting to pdf and print that.

I think Serif wants us to be only creative in finding workarounds to use their tools.

I have an affinity with Jumping through Hoops and over Humps.
Dealing with Speedbumps and finding Work-A-Roundabouts.
I'm getting dizzy from all that spinning and jumping.

Hi @Necrons,

Welcome to the Affinity Forums :)

Thanks for your report and file provided!

I too have tried the above suggestions (alongside a few others) and thus far have been unable to print this from Windows with the hole included - unless I rasterised the layer or export to PDF and print this document externally, as mentioned by Return above.

I'm unsure of the cause of this currently and therefore will be logging this as a bug with our developers now for further investigation.

In the meantime I'd recommend exporting to PDF, then printing the file externally in order to workaround this issue.

I hope this helps!

The file prints without issue on Mac but out of complete curiosity, if you select all the nodes on the inner circle of the number 9 and convert them from Sharp Nodes to Smooth Nodes, does it make any difference at all, i.e., does the file then print with the hole in the number 9?

I can confirm this, it appears to be a Windows bug only.

Unfortunately not - with either Smooth or Smart nodes, the 'hole' continues not to print. I'll be sure to update the development log with this info :)
