blackmont Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 (edited) Hi, I need help. How to make the section name and page number like in the image? Spoiler Here is what I try to do, but there is no space between words. I create it on Master Page, so it will change depending on what section the page is. *I use some samples from new doc. Spoiler Thanks Edited May 5, 2023 by blackmont Remove external link for image. Quote
MikeTO Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 Hi @blackmont and welcome to the forums. There is no need to use an external site to upload your image, you can just paste the images into your forum posts here. You'll get more replies if you post the images directly because then people can view them without clicking a link to an external site they don't know or trust. To create space between the words in vertical text like this you may need to enter two line feeds. Press Shift+Return twice to create two line feeds without starting a new paragraph. Cheers Sorry for that, it has been fixed now. Thank you very much for the answer. But how to apply it into section name? I must do it manually (I mean create master page per section and type section name manually). Or do it automatically (using insert field => Section Name, but it will be no space between words). Quote
Komatös Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 @blackmont The Affinity programs unfortunately do not offer the possibility to adjust the writing direction, i.e. from horizontal to vertical, and to use this for variables like the section names. blackmont 1 Quote MAC mini M4 | MacOS Sequoia 15.2 | 16 GB RAM | 256 GB SSD AMD Ryzen 7 5700X | INTEL Arc A770 LE 16 GB | 32 GB DDR4 3200MHz | Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (26100.2605) Affinity Suite V 2.5.7 & Beta 2.6 (latest) Interested in a free (selfhosted) PDF Solution? Thanks for answering my questions. I hope in the future Affinity will support it. Quote
GarryP Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 It might not work in all cases but – in Windows – you can use the Character Map application to copy a “No Break Space” character to the clipboard and then paste it into the Section Manager name field – see attached image. blackmont 1 Quote

Ahh, I see. Why I never think about it.😃 It is really good idea. Thanks. Quote
GarryP Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 You’re welcome. I’ve not tried to use it in a ‘real’ document so it’s worth checking properly before you start to use it ‘for real’. This sort of thing is a bit of a ‘hack’ so it might not work all of the time and might even stop working if something changes in the software later. Basically: Use with caution. blackmont 1 Quote

I just found something interesting so I wonder how to make it because it’s not usually something I see in books. Quote
