designer 2 beta win 10 followed a tutorial to remove background worked yesterday not today?

Ok this is the tut i followed: 

 

and that worked fine yesterday, i went to bed and this afternoon, i did it on the next image. and when i press the delete key it deletes everything!  what???? I did it 3 times starting over and yeah now it doesnt work at all.  Here is a copy of the file. Its left at the point you hit the delete key.  

What am i doing wrong? its not difficult.

Check the tips from 

You need to have the selection tool active. Otherwise delete key will delete the layer, not the selected area.

You are working on an image layer

You need to rasterise the layer first for the delete key to work as expected

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.
