Hi there, I have been testing a lot the latest build version

I'm getting a very annoying problem in regard to the use of SHIFT and selections of objects and group

Somehow when I try to select multiple objects, Affinity Designer simply glitches the selection as shown on video.

Important Note:
This is happening since two beta released versions.
I've reseted my Affinity + Tried multiple documents, it happens same way.
I tested in my two mouses + pencil, both react same way

I will attach the video to show what is happening

I'm using windows 11.

Hi JhonatanS

On what physical device are you enacting the 'Shift' key on? Are you using a button on a graphics tablet mapped to shift, or on a pen? Or are you using the physical key on a keyboard (which regional layout?)?

The outlines that show dimensions that you can see in your video are never normally displayed when shift is held down instead they're displayed when you hold Ctrl down. So it seems like whatever device your using is also forcing Ctrl down. See attached video showing the difference for me between Shift and Ctrl. I used Nirsoft's KeyboardStateView to show the keys being used. I'd be interested to see what that shows for you.

I see what you mean,

When I'm using the v2.0 the Ctrl + Shift works fine to select others objects inside other layers you know,

However, as you can see in videos, while using 2.1, Ctrl + Shift to select objects that are children or inside a layer doesn't perform in the same way.

in the v2.0 the CTRL + shift works nice to select objects directly with Ctrl + Shift

that case, I prefer much more the way that the 2.0 works because I can select objects that are separated and

Thanks for that! I've now reproduced when using Ctrl+Shift together. Just so we've got the relevant information to pass on, what is the reason you prefer to use Ctrl+Shift? IS it down to a tablet device being mapped to Ctrl+Shift by default? I seem to remember the Wacom Pens having that mapped on them by default?

Hi Mate, thanks for the quick reply

The Ctrl+Shift together allows you to select the objects Directly, which means that, if an Object is inside a group or layer, you can select the very specific object

that's why I use this a lot and notice this issue that was getting my experience quite strange.

Ahhh I'm with you!
In which case you might actually find the new  'Auto Select' dropdown on the move tool's context toolbar useful. If you switch that Objects it should always select an object over a group, avoiding the necessity to hold down Ctrl to always drill into the group. :)

The issue "Unable to use Cmd+Shift together to select objects" (REF: AFD-6571) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.1.0.1781".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.
