François Leblanc Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 Affinity Photo 2.0.4 Screen capture 1 Open an image (JPG or PNG) Screen capture 2 Create a new pixel layer inside the image and the image become totally transparent Screen capture 3 (I could not upload this screen capture - Upload Failed) Paint in red color on the pixel layer and the result make the pixel layer transparent, revealing the image underneath, with no red color. GarryP Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 (edited) You have cropped the image layer by the pixel layer, probably by dragging the pixel layer over the image thumbnail in the Layers Panel – notice the crop icon in the lower right of the pixel layer thumbnail. This causes the image to be cropped to the content of the pixel layer which, if it’s just been created, has no content and therefore you cannot see anything. Try dragging the pixel layer, in the Layers Panel, over the name of the image instead. Note: From what I see in your images and read in your description, this is not a bug. All that seems to have happened is that you have accidentally used a feature of the software that you didn’t know existed. Edited April 5, 2023 by GarryP Added note. François Leblanc Posted April 5, 2023 Author Posted April 5, 2023 Is this a new feature in Affinity 2.0? Can you tell me where to find this new feature in the documentation? Quote
Dan C Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 I can confirm that this functionality (layer masking) was available in both V1 & V2, however some of the Layers Studio indicators were changed in V2. I'd recommend checking out the following for more info: Layer Clipping Layer Masking I hope this helps Quote
