Changes appear only after zooming

Recommended Posts

I have this weird graphical (?) issue with both Photo and Designer.

Let's say I'm using the Blur Brush tool on a pixel layer (a photo). I apply the brush where I want to blur, but nothing is happening as I do so. But when I zoom out, the blurring I made is clearly there. I use the mouse wheel to zoom.

I'm really not sure why it's happening, it was also happening in V1, so I think it might be some setting I'm missing?

Sounds like an visual drawing update problem, does it only happen when using brushes? - Check your GPU hardware acceleration settings under the app preferences. Disable temporary GPU OpenCL support etc. and restart, in order to see if it may be related to that.

I experience such as blank areas on the layout occasionally with various tools or actions. Usually closing and reopening the document (or even app) solves the issue.

I wonder if might be related to the current size of the .autosave files which increase during a session, respectively the number of available Undo-actions in the History panel of an open document. With other words, whether it depends on the memory management of Affinity and its communication with the operating system. [Possibly similar to the errors on "Save" or "Save as" which (auto-)close a document, can make the app freeze and/or the document getting corrupted, though the issue did not occur while working in the file.]

Not only brushes, no. In Designer, when I use the Node tool, the changes don't show up at times too. It's so weird because it's inconsistent.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try to disable it and see if it fixes anything.

None of the tips worked, changes still don't show up only after zooming. It seems like the bigger the document, the more often it happens. I'm just working on 1920x1080 wallpaper and it happens continuously.

Affinity uses a technique to speed up the display of <100% mipmaps, which causes some display distortion. It is necessary to check the quality of the image and the effect of the filters (for example, sharpening) when displaying 100% and higher.

It's usually when I'm zoomed out <100% that the changes don't appear. I don't think it does have to do anything with the quality of the image or any effect.

I want to move an image of any quality (with no effects on, just a basic photo) on a blank canvas, but the change in position doesn't appear, only after I zoom in. If my default zoom when viewing the entire canvas is 25%, all I need to do is zoom in once with my mouse (to like 40% or so) and the changes appear.
