Trapeze not straight

With the trapezoid selected and showing the red nodes move the red node until you get a green highlight indicating the slope is at 45º

This highly depends on your trapezoid thickness, handle adjustments etc. You can customize that shape.

Not necessarily. A trapezium (or trapezoid in US English) merely has at least one pair of parallel sides. There is no requirement for the other two sides to be at right angles to each other.
