My camera has the function to save images as Black and White ether as a raw file (DNG) and a as JPEG. When I open the JPEG in Affinity Photo, i see the image in B&W as expected, but if I do open the DNG file (which you can see it in B&W directly in the windows explorer view) in Affinity, I see it as a color file instead of B&W.

This does not happen if I open the DNG file in the Pentax edition software (silkpix). Can you help me know if its something in my installation, or if there's something missing in Affinity to read the DNG correctly and display it in B&W?

I attached the DNG in B&W that shows the kids in the screenshot of my computer (k3m36405.dng) for you to test with it.

I'm using version Affinity Photo 2.0.4
Windows 11 Home OS build 22624.1470 (beta tester)

Kindest regards,

Marko

When Affinity Photo opens the DNG it is reading the RAW file directly and does not show the B&W filter that the camera added to the RAW file and you will nee to reapply it as @Komatössuggested.

Thank you! I just tried and it worked perfectly.
