Save files outside Affinity sandbox en mass

Recommended Posts

I have a ADez project with 256 files in it and I need to reload the app, anyway to do this en mass?

When I first got ADez I left files in a project, now I need to save them outside and reload ADez, sny painless way to do this?

I know better now not to leave files in the sandbox, but this doesnt help with the >300 files already there.

Anyway to automate this action.

Thanx

No, it is purely a manual action.

Don't forget to save them somewhere outside of the Affinity Designer folder in "on my iPad", as that one will be removed if you delete the app, too.

Thanx Walt thats what I suspected. No fun, painful lesson. So given this memory prob why doesnt Affiinty give the option to set the default directory outside the sandbox.

I presume the answer lies in protected possibly more stable storage, however from users here, it would seem the the cons far out weigh the benefits, whatever they are!

It's probably a combination of stability and performance. But only the designers at Serif could really answer that.

Sandbox data is only in the Sandbox.

If you want it someplace else you need to Save it there. Note that Projects are only in the Sandbox. The file system only iknows about files and folders.

So, what are documents then? Shouldn't they be saved automatically to iCloud? Are projects really not just folders of documents? Semantics aside, the way Affinity on iPadOS communicates the location and state of a document (ahem file) is horrid. The fact that you have to select 'Save as…' in the hamburger menu within the Live Docs view to actually save your file is crazy, but then if you go to close it, it asks you if you want to close without saving, even if you just saved it.. It also doesn't say if or where it's saved to, and when.

Also, there is no concept of 'sandbox' in the Affinity apps — there's the 'Live Docs' tab. The term sandbox is only meaningful if you happen to browse the Apple Developer docs.

So what does this do then?

I have no idea. Perhaps someone else will know.
