felipe_g Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 ok so, i have a pretty simple setup in Affinity Photo 2.04 (Windows) A layer with a star shape and a mask applied to it. When I add a gaussian blur live filter to the mask, the mask disappears It is only when I add a mask to the gaussian blur live filter that I can see the mask and the effect of the filter. I know that live filters and other adjustment layers come with a mask already built in, so Im guessing there is a bug with the one in the gaussian blur when applying to a mask? The same live filter works fine when applied directly to the layer, but not to the mask Quote Windows 11 Pro, AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, B550M Aorus Elite MB, 64GB RAM, MSI RTX3060 12GB Affinity Photo V2
Dan C Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 Hi @Felipe_RB, Thanks for your report! If I have correctly understood the steps described, I have tried this here using Affinity Photo 2.0.4 Windows and the Live Filter layer is applied to the mask, as expected - Are you able to provide a copy of your .afphoto file that shows this issue, so that I can investigate further please? Many thanks in advance Quote
felipe_g Posted March 6, 2023 Author Posted March 6, 2023 sure thing, here it is as mentioned before, the only solution I found was to then add a mask to the gaussian blur mask_gb.afphoto Quote Windows 11 Pro, AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, B550M Aorus Elite MB, 64GB RAM, MSI RTX3060 12GB Affinity Photo V2
Dan C Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Many thanks for providing that for me! This appears to be rendering as expected here, the mask is applied to the Star, and the blur is applied to the mask - Is this different from the results you are seeing, and if so can you provide a screenshot of the file open on you end for me? felipe_g Posted March 7, 2023 Author Posted March 7, 2023 Hi Dan OpenCL compute acceleration was off when I experienced the problem, I tried switching it on and only then the Blur worked on the mask as expected. Try switching OpenCL off in order to see the bug. Unfortunately, there are still many bugs associated with the OpenCL compute acceleration so I usually keep it off. So I guess the bug still applies for most of us (I tested this in versions 2.04 and 2.1beta, OpenCL compute acceleration off causes the bug in both) Dan C 1 Quote Windows 11 Pro, AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, B550M Aorus Elite MB, 64GB RAM, MSI RTX3060 12GB Affinity Photo V2
Ron P. Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 @Dan C, I agree with @Felipe_RB. My GPU is too old to allow OpenCL, and applying a Blur to the Mask does not work for me. 2023-03-08 00-08-38.mp4 Quote Affinity Photo 2.5..; Affinity Designer 2.5..; Affinity Publisher 2.5..; Affinity2 Beta versions. Dan C Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 Thanks for confirming that for me - I've been able to replicate this issue and I will log it with our developers as a bug now felipe_g 1 Quote
