MT_AZ Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 several macros using clarity, unsharp mask, or brightness/contrast do not work properly when invoked from a macro. When move the adjustment button on the slider, there is no discernible change in the image. When I release the mouse button, then the change in image appears. Without visual feedback it is difficult to make changes. These sliders all work fine in the regular adjustment layers. Win 11Pro 22H2 Dell Alienware M15 Intel i7 12thgen Nvidia Gforce RTX3060 Quote

smadell Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 The problem is that macros do not play back in “real time,” in the sense that there is no ability to pause a macro for user interaction. No matter how simple or complex the macro may be, the macro plays from beginning to end and, if recorded in this manner by its creator, only then presents the user interaction sliders. Any change made in the sliders will re-invoke the macro, which again plays from beginning to end with the altered slider setting. This is by design, according to Serif, although it would have been really nice if macros worked differently. There has been precious little improvement in macros since their inception. This leads me to believe that Serif may see macros as a stop-gap measure on the way to some implementation of Javascript. Serif has acknowledged that javascript is in the cards, but has so far been deemed not ready for prime time. Once scripting is available, it would not surprise me if the macro and scripting functions were somehow merged. And then, it seems likely that the floodgates will open for all the possibilities that macros might acquire.
