Thought this was a beta issue but also happens in v2. Any ideas? I have used this font veneer3 quite a few times and not had an issue. It prints fine from the font test file, but in the main document the test vanishes. ( It did , as expected, print ok if the text was then rasterised before printing so I do have a workaround).    [design by Freddy Holzhouse - final doc will have credit]
Thanks for advice.

@gw_westdale, your file is printing correctly for me and the Veneer Three font is printing exactly as per the file... could you make a quick screengrab of your complete UI, showing the Characters panel with the file open incase that points to anything...

Your file is equally printing as expected using the Italic versions of the fonts, I've attached a pdf version exported from your file, what happens if you print that?

Note: I've hidden the Calligraph421 on the pdf export as I didn't have it loaded on my system.

What happens if you change the font to Veneer (one) Italic? (Which has fewer contours in each character)

Some printer drivers choke when the text has a gazillion contours in each character. So they have problems with some of these distressed fonts.

The "one" font has far fewer contours than the "three" font - so see if that works.

What kind of printer?

You can also test using any plain sans font.

I think this is the right solution to point the finger at the Windows printer driver or memory in the printer.   I printed the small test file with the various veneer fonts ok using short texts - proving that the font was not massively corrupt. When I tried with long texts just now, it refused to print - I can't afford the paper/ink  to narrow it down precisely - whether to specific characters in the font or to sheer volume.

Thanks all of you for your time ... I'll see if HP have a recent update  😞
At least I have a workaround by rasterising.... disappointing as it is a very simple file - not one of these 1000 layer jobs from the pros.

FWIW, I printed your file using Veneer Three to a pretty basic HP printer without issue, I can't say I've ever had any issues printing any typeface before, there really should be zero need to rasterise...

Out of interest, were you able to print the pdf file I attached earlier...

Hi Hangman ... No, it is not a massive pro type printer but it does seem odd. The latest updates are installed (in October from a September release)

And yes the PDF printed fine, thank you   - I assumed that might have been rasterised, or a subsetted font.

Which does raise a question, if not rasterised,  of whether printing from Affinity does subset its fonts or send them complete?
EDIT and the answer is yes - whe exporting to PDF if you set the option

I'll look around for some more large and 'noisy' fonts -- I have a few.

cheers

And that seems to be consistent, if disappointing.

Print from this Affinity document fails - nothing prints. Print from the generated PDF (exported with subsetting of fonts) works as expected.

I'm afraid it prints from the Affinity document without issue, the problem isn't Affinity related but will be system or print driver related... It would be helpful if someone else running Windows could try and print your Affinity Designer file to confirm as I'm running macOS...

I printed it to an image printer at 800x800 DPI. Appears to have worked.

BUT, you have some issues in the GOOD/BAD.
Look at the lower left side of the D in Bad - it takes a jog left and right.
Noticed it in the JPG image, but it is in your original doc too.
There are few other places where there are similar issues.
You can see it in your image above.

Thanks - I'll clear them in the next draft once I've decided about the lettering
