Affinity Photos work just fine (.afphoto). Only this doesn't work

Do you have the MSIX-based apps installed, or the EXE/MSI-based apps, or both?

If you have both MSIX and EXE/MSI versions installed, you should uninstall one of them to avoid confusion. Probably you should uninstall the MSIX version.

I did, but that didn't solve the problem. afphoto still works with both versions installed

To be clear, by "both versions" do you mean both Photo V1 and Photo 2, or do you mean the MSIX and EXE/MSI versions of Photo 2?

I have Designer 2.0.4 installed and Designer 1.9.2.1035 installed

Which version of Designer 2.0.4? The standard one (MSIX installer) or the newer one (EXE/MSI installer)?

In your initial post in this topic, what is that screenshot from? It doesn't look like the Windows dialogs I'm familiar with.

Yes that's the menu you get when Windows does not know, has not been assigned, an app to open a file type. I've seen it numerous times, and it's similar to the right-click menu for Open With, or right-click on a file, select properties, then in that dialog select to change the app used to open it.

 

@Prothom Uzzaman, What happens if you launch Designer, use the File>Open menu, navigate to and select that file? Does it open in AD?
