Old Bruce Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 When changing the location of the Footnotes to Bottom of Column from Bottom of Frame there is no problem when it is one Column in the Text Frames. However when I have two columns in the text frames Publisher will slow to a halt after processing a page or two. Same thing happens if I have the Footnotes set to be placed at the Bottom of the Frame in two Column Text Frames and then change the Footnote location to Bottom of Column. This is in a test document with five pages of text and notes and the Text Frames are on a Master Page. There are about 20 footnotes. This is also occurring in the latest beta [2.1.0.1709] Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. Staff NathanC Posted February 25, 2023 Staff Posted February 25, 2023 Hey @Old Bruce, Could you possibly provide me with the test document where you were able to replicate this app hang? I've set up a similar test document but I've not had much success in getting the app to freeze after adjusting the note positioning Document wide. Let me know if you would prefer a private upload link. Many thanks Quote

Staff NathanC Posted February 27, 2023 Staff Posted February 27, 2023 Thanks for sending over the file, It's still working as expected for me after updating your master text frames to two column and then toggling between the Bottom of Frame/Column setting, I've tried this on a few Mac's but they have all been on Ventura. I'll see if I can replicate this on an older Big Sur Mac in case that's factoring in. Old Bruce 1 Quote

Thanks for looking at this. I think it is down to the two fonts I used EB Garamond and Gill. If I use others here on my machine I don't see the hang. [sometimes I Hate fonts emoticon] Now I'll have to check and see what is wrong with my copies of them. Old Bruce Posted February 27, 2023 Author Posted February 27, 2023 @NathanC I have figured out that the copy of Gill Sans that I have is causing this. This is the Mac OS Supplemental font from /System/Library/Fonts/Supplemental/GillSans.ttc I don't know if this is just a corrupted font on my system alone or if the .ttc (true type container(?)) is just bad with Publisher and notes and columns versus frames.
