ABC Service Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Affinity Publisher 2 keeps crashing when I am creating a spread for NCR pads. The file is set up as A5 (using Affinity 2) and then placed as two up on A4 sheets, this has happened with two different files now, crashes multiple times throughout, I have to save every 5 pages just in case. Hello, here are the crash reports for February (there doesn't seem to be any crash reports for yesterday, there should be 2 or 3). I have uploaded two files, one is the A5s (NCR Pads - A5), which I will then export as a PDF and place into the other file attached (NCR Pads - A5 Spread). So effectively these are created as A5 pages, exported as a PDF and then imported onto A4 Landscape pages which creates the spread so when I print them they are printed in the correct way to be glued. Once I get several in the document it crashes....the IT engineers have looked over it and when monitoring system resources etc we have plenty left. I am not sure that this is the best method of producing the A4 Landscape page. It has been years since I had to print NCR paper. I remember the sequential numbering was done with a mechanical counter. It would change after one, two, three or four impressions. Is this what you are having to do, change the numbering on every other sheet? If that is the requirement then perhaps a text file with the required numbers would be better than this current method. As we do not have a mechanical counter we print this all in one go, I've never had issues in the past (using Affinity 1). Quote

What I am asking is are you wanting the final PDF (the one you use to print the NCR paper) to have the form and number 1 on spreads one and two. Then have the form and number 2 on spreads three and four etc. I recall jobs which needed up to four NCR paper colours. White and yellow and blue and green. In that case I would have the final PDF have the same number on pages 1, 2, 3, and 4. Then the next four pages in the final PDF would have the second number on pages 5, 6, 7, and 8. Today I would use a text frame on a Master Page and put in that text frame a text file that would look like this 1 1 1 1 2 2 2 2 3 3... I would have a Paragraph style for the sequence numbers that has the Flow option of Start: in next text frame. Make a one page document and place the text file in the appropriate text frame and shift click on the text overflow. Here are some files.
