AP - Perspective correction

I am familiar(ish) with both the live and normal perspective corrections tools, but don't know how to get the best result from the adjustment.

When I drag outward left or right on the top handles to correct converging line distortion, the height of objects (buildings and people) become foreshortened so I drag the handles upwards to restore what looks like a proper ratio, but is there a way to get a "correct" ratio other than by eye/guessing? I find this particularly difficult when dealing with photos with people in the foreground.

I generally do a bit of ground work first in so much as, I create lines with the pen tool to give a point of reference for height and width.

Before perspective

After perspective but prior to scaling the photographer back to match the green lines

After perspective, using the green lines to scale the photographer back.

That's interesting. Now the pen tool I tend to avoid as much as possible - can't remember the last time I used it, but will try it. I had tried using guides with limited success.

I'm missing something, as I can't get the image after perspective correction to line up with the pen tool lines; your 2nd & 3rd images.

I guess you just have to stretch the image vertically (and horizontally a bit) in order to have people height (and width) match the green lines.

Thanks, I've got it working now. Probably an error using the pen tool initially.

I can't use a Macro to place generic lines to then move about  😢
