Tyves Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 hi since the latest updates AP won't work with HP smart (scan function) (at least in my case) doesn't matter what version of AP. I tested it with 1.10.6 and also on the 2.0.4 when I try to scan a pic the preview looks fine but the final scanned result looks ugly. just like when I would use the scanner and would shake the sheet/pic during the scan operation. HP smart on its own does work pretty fine as standalone application... so maybe you guys could check that out and fix it maybe... would be nice... have a great day... cheerio... Quote
Staff Lee D Posted February 8, 2023 Staff Posted February 8, 2023 I'm assuming you're using the Acquire Image option on the File menu within Photo. This is the built in scanner support macOS has that provides our app via an API, you'd be better to keep using the stand alone app, as it was designed for that purpose or perhaps contact Apple. Quote

Tyves Posted February 8, 2023 Author Posted February 8, 2023 yeah, exactly that way... but the HP driver on its own works fine... so it must be sth in the chain from the driver through AP to the final result... Quote
Tyves Posted February 8, 2023 Author Posted February 8, 2023 Hey Lee... the thing is, that before the latest updates it work very well... 😬 Of course I could use the HP driver but that would make the AP intern option kind of obsolete, no? 😬 Quote

Apart from two old CCD Epson scanners I also have a relatively new small HP laser printer with a built-in CIS scanner. All of them function flawlessly since years – in fact, one of the Epson scanners is now 22 years old, the other 18 years! – except when used via Affinity's "Aquire Image". 21 minutes ago, Tyves said: Of course I could use the HP driver but that would make the AP intern option kind of obsolete, no? 😬 It's been reported since years. Apparently it doesn't affect everyone, and Serif developers have yet to find the exact cause. But meh… As I have already noted in one of the aforelinked threads, it's quite easy to work around: You can set up a simple Automator service and give it a keyboard shortcut (System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Services) so that it's accessible from Photo's Services submenu: in Image Capture, open the Scan To popup menu and select Other… navigate to your Applications folder choose Affinity Photo as your "scan to" app; this setting should usually stick across sessions scan Quote MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2
