calkinsc Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 (edited) In Affinity Photo 2 2.04 the "Develop" operation from the Develop Persona seems unreliable when more than one image is selected. My usual workflow is to load two images (obverse and reverse of a coin) in the RAW format from my Nikon camera (.NEF) and then to set the Exposure and Blackpoint such that both images are balanced (why having two open at once is handy). I then click Develop for both, and then continue processing. Starting with 2.04 the Develop operation seems unreliable. For example, consider the two NEF files attached. Open both simultaneously and note how dark each is (1.jpg and 2.jpg). Set an Exposure of 0.986 and a Blackpoint of 5% and note that both images lighten noticeably (3.jpg and 4.jpg). Then click Develop with the obverse image (4.jpg) active - note that the image becomes darker again, about to what it was originally (5.jpg). Then switch to the reverse image (3.jpg) and click Develop and now the image is significantly brighter than it should be (6.jpg). The expectation after clicking Develop is that the images retain the Exposure and Blackpoint settings and not change to a darkened, and then lightened, image pair. This does not happen every time with two images, but often enough that it is able to be reproduced consistently and annoyingly often enough that I am resorting to processing a single image at a time else I have to redo work when Develop fails. If I have only one image open I haven't noticed it Develop incorrectly. I am running Windows 11 Pro 10.0.22000 Build 22000. If this could be addressed, I'd appreciate it! if I can provide further information, feel free to contact me. Thanks! DSC_0897.NEF DSC_0898.NEF Edited February 7, 2023 by calkinsc Added OS version. It only happens with two images loaded simultaneously, which I don't see a mention of in the other tagged posts with that AFP. Quote
Staff Lee D Posted February 7, 2023 Staff Posted February 7, 2023 This is already logged with the developers, so I've added your report to that one. Quote
Asbjorn Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 I too am having a problem that seems to being caused by the same bug. The problem only affects RAW files that I load as a batch of two or more. The problem does not arise when loading a single file. My files are Pentax DNG and DJI drone DNG files. With 2 or more uploaded in a batch then the first one opened for initial processing will always switch back to the unprocessed view and format when the DEVELOP button is pressed. If I cancel and close that file then I can continue and process all the others in that batch without the same problem arising. It makes no difference whether the graphic accelerator card is on or off. I have even made duplicate copies of a set of sample RAW files and loaded one set into AffinityPhoto1, but no such problem arises with Photo1. Quote
Martin Heß Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 I am loading Olympus Raw Files and often the adjustments i did will not be operated when i pushed the develop button. Sometimes the clicking on the develope button has no effect and i have to cancel the develop persona and load the Raw file again. If I loaded more than one Raw File, the develop button has no effect for all the loaded Files and I have to cancel the Develop Persona for all the loaded Files. Sometimes the complete Affinity Photo Program breaks down after pushing the develop button. If I load only one File, the bug never appears so far. Quote
