I just noticed that the Pages Tab and the Preflight tab are missing in Affinity Designer V2 on my iMac Pro but are there on my MacBook Pro. I reinstalled and reset but they still don’t show up. They must do an update to fix this. I’m running Ventura on the iMac Pro but Monterey on the MacBook Pro.

There are no Pages or Preflight studio panels in Affinity Designer, not in V1 or V2.

These only are available in Affinity Publisher.

Then your MacBook Pro running Monterey has the Publisher installed. Not Designer.

Perfect.
So whenever you need the Pages and Preflight panels, use Publisher to manage them.
For most workflows, you don't even have to leave Publisher at all. That's what the Designer and Photo personas – aka StudioLink – are for.

I'd also suggest to watch a few tutorials:

I have all 3 installed. Designer, photo and publisher.

Then you're running Publisher when you access those panels. They do not exist in the Designer application.

You could, of course, provide a V1 screenshot of Designer having those panels and then we might believe you.

(Just as a side note: thanks to a few "Mac only happy accidents", it is possible to activate the Links, Text Frame and Pinning panels in v1 Designer. I'm using them all the time. :)

… aaand lo and behold, such happy accident works for the Preflight panel in APu 1 Designer/Photo persona as well!
The dirty little trick is:

  1. in Publisher, add a random preflight comment to a random object so that it triggers an error warning on export/print
  2. switch to the Designer persona (not the Designer app, that won't work)
  3. hit export
  4. there's your warning that lets you open the Preflight panel
  5. save it as a Studio Preset for future use
  6. repeat for the Photo persona

As expected though, this "nasty high priority bug" was obviously fixed in v2 so it won't work there.

I just checked and it was on publisher. Must have selected it thru designer.

In Designer and in Photo, you can only flip through the existing pages/masters using the input field or the arrows in the bottom Status bar. You can't edit them though.

Actually, I can edit master or document page contents in Affinity Photo or Affinity Designer. For instance, I can in the Layers panel select a master page layer & use Edit Detached or Edit Linked, just like I can in Affinity Publisher.

What I can't do is create new master or document pages, rename master pages, or do anything that requires the Pages panel to do.

Ah, my bad, I've used the wrong expression. Of course you can edit them. But you can't add or remove them as it's only possible via Pages panel. That's what I meant. :)
