Gchurchley Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 The software has been working perfectly over the last 24 hours. Suddenly it crashes upon opening an existing file or creating a new one. I have legacy files that I can still open in Publisher 1, but those same files crash Publisher 2. Thank you in advance for any help. Attempted: 1. Mac restart 2. Open current files 3. Open legacy files 4. Verified current software version 5. Verified lastest OS Quote
Gchurchley Posted January 14, 2023 Author Posted January 14, 2023 I've attempted an uninstall/re-install back to version 2.0.0. The immediate crash upon open or creation is happening. Quote
MikeTO Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 It's interesting that you say that Publisher v2 was working fine but now it's crashing when creating a new file. Just to confirm, if you restart your Mac and then start Publisher, and then choose File > New, and then click Create, that's when it crashes? Or is it crashing at some other point? I'd upgrade back to 2.0.3 as it contains many critical fixes. I think there's only one bug that some have found makes it worth reverting to 2.0.0 for and I can't recall what it is offhand. If you have a file you can share here that opens in v1 but not in v2, please upload it so one of us can give it a try. Which version of macOS are you using? Which Mac model? Where are you storing your files, on iCloud, your local drive, an external drive, another cloud, or a network drive? Gchurchley Posted January 14, 2023 Author Posted January 14, 2023 MacBook: 2019 13" 1.4 Ghz Intel i5 running Ventura 13.1 In Publisher 1, I can open all legacy files and create new. Publisher 2 (both 2.0.0 and 2.0.3): Opening files from any location (I've tried both local and via Dropbox) will launch the splash screen and then crash the app. Otherwise, app opens allowing me to attempt to open, open recent, or create new file. Attempting to execute any of those options crashes the app. Yes, Thursday evening and all Friday morning the app was running perfectly, opening, closing, and reopening files. Friday mid-morning I did a final export on a book and book cover, and shutdown the app for lunch. When I came back, I attempted to open another project but couldn't open anything. I'm going to be sick if I can't get access to all my current projects. The thought of recreating everything in InDesign makes me sick. Quote
Gchurchley Posted January 15, 2023 Author Posted January 15, 2023 Looking elsewhere in the forum, I've found other people having this problem. They suggested creating a new user profile on the computer. I've confirmed that creating a new profile will allow me to open and create files. This isn't a great solution (I have to transfer all my resources over to this new user account), but it allows me to keep working... kind of. I'm thinking of switching back to Publisher 1. It didn't have any of these issues and I'm not really experiencing a huge benefit to Publisher 2. This is so disappointing. Quote
Dan C Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Hi @Gchurchley, Thanks for your report and our sincerest apologies for the delayed response here. We are exceptionally busy following the release of V2 and we thank you for your continued patience and understanding here. I can confirm that version 2.0.4 has since been launched, which has resolved documents crashing on load for other users - can you please try updating to this version and letting me know if this helps? Secondly, when the app crashes, is a crash report generated? If so, can you attach a copy of this here for me? Many thanks in advance Quote
Gchurchley Posted February 3, 2023 Author Posted February 3, 2023 The update did not resolve my problem, but it was addressed when I created a new post on this issue. Thank you. Dan C 1 Quote
