Federicocentrocopie
Hi everyone, i created an A4, 4 pages, .afdesign file. I attach a screenshot of it, containing 4 placed .pdf inside each one. When I try to export, the result is the file I attached. A 4 pages A4 pdf with the an absurdly small image in the centre. With Affinity designer 1 was all ok, what happens with this version? Thank you in advance, have a good day. Tags for cabinets MMB-2.pdf

Staff Pauls Posted January 16, 2023 Staff Share Posted January 16, 2023 If i use the PDF/X4 profile that exports correctly - do you have the source PDF file that you have embedded
Federicocentrocopie
"If i use the PDF/X4 profile that exports correctly". Ok. Thank you, it works. But why this save preset works and the other not? Here's the pdf embedded. Tags for cabinets MMB.pdf
Staff Pauls Posted January 17, 2023 Staff Share Posted January 17, 2023 It appears to be something to do with passthrough being specified as using interpret appears to generate the export previews OK. I'll have to log this for further investigation
Federicocentrocopie
Ok. Thank you. The strange thing is with the previous version everything was ok. The good thing is that at least with PDF/X4 the export is correct. have a nice day Pauls

I'll have to log this for further investigation What's particularly odd here, that the original embeded PDF is a pure vector file, but when placed as passthrough, it's being rasterized!? Why that? It doesn't make sense. Same in v1.10.6. Same with any placed passthrough PDF, for that matter. Was that always the case? (I never use placed documents apart from bitmap images. Since decades, I always "crack-open" anything vector and place it as native paths into my layouts. For a good reason, obviously…) Quote MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2
Federicocentrocopie
The reason I place the pdf and I didn't open it, is because the file I received from my client didn't have the text converted in paths, and I didn't own the font. It was the only way to read the file correctly. That's the only reason.

Yes, that's often the issue… Quote MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2
