Publisher V2.0.3 does not Export PDF

I have a 34 page document with a lot of embedded images and URLs links  It is an electronic magazine that can be printed or used as a PDF with live links.  It fails to export.  Where do I find the log or eror files to tell me what the problem is.

On the odd ocasion it does export a lot of the URLs and links don't work.
The PDF it has ocasionally produced is 80Mb (not a problem there are a lot of images in it)

Any suggestions as I am working to a deadline.

Open the Hyperlinks panel and check all of your URLs - exporting to PDF will fail if even one hyperlink is invalid, and Publisher considers a URL with a space at the end to be invalid. This has come up a couple of times this week. This might not be your issue but it's worth checking first.

Mike how dare you insult me by suggesting I might make such a novice mistake like that. I am incandecent with rage and will report you to the admins. It is very clearly buggy software!  Obviously so because the problem has now gone away....

I'm glad it was a simple fix because if it wasn't hyperlinks I was going to reply that I had no idea what could be causing the issue!

A trailing space should not cause PDF export to fail so this is a bug that needs to be fixed but at least you can work around it in the meantime.

We will leave the debate as to if it was a simple error or I am simple to later 🙂
However your post got me out of a jam.

The problem was that I, like many  I assume,   have a base text with URLs in it.  Then in the typesetting process having flowed the text in to the frames cut the URL out, high lignt the associated word(s) with it to turn them into a link. It is this cut and pasting the links from text into the hyperlink box that caused my problem.  I found I have multiple links with preceding and/or an appending space.  Usually no more than one at each end which is easy to miss.

I agree that these spaces should not cause a crash.  Then again I should be a lot more careful then doing them!

The other point is there should be an error log.  For some other video editing SW I use the is an error log produced. There is also a menu option for sending it to support.
When people are discussing problems on their forum the first thing a company rep will say is "send the log file" !   This lets them solve many problems very quickly.   For more experienced users they can interpret the error log themselves.

That said many thanks for getting me a rapid solution.  I was up against a deadline.

Regards

Chris

There is logging for PDF. I don't know whether it would have helped in this situation though.

Cheers

There is a weird bug that is adding a space to the end of highlighted text that is copied (or cut) in the various Affinity Applications. This space is placed on the clipboard. In future, until the bug is fixed/squashed, you could try having a Text Editor document open and paste the copied text into that and then copy from that again to paste into the Affinity applications.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6
Affinity Designer 2.5.5 | Affinity Photo 2.5.5 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.5 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
