Thomahawk Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 Using Affinity photo 2 on Mac monterey trying to edit a color channel of a cmyk photo. Can not find the edit buttons (pencil icon) like described in the help documentation. I only see some kind of slider icon. With that activated, I can paint on the channel. But what I need is copy paste portions of the channel. How can I do that? Quote

Probably you're reading the version 1 help manual. Since the icons are different I imagine that new features have been added to that "Editable" icon. It is possible that the process I am going to describe has become simpler in version 2. On 1/7/2023 at 10:25 AM, Thomahawk said: But what I need is copy paste portions of the channel. How can I do that? In version 1 this is how I would do it. In this example i will edit the Magenta channel... on the layers tab. 1) Duplicate background (BG Copy) 2) Visualize just the magenta channel by clicking the text "Composite Magenta" on the Channels tab. In your case "Verbund-Magenta". 3) Edit "BG Copy" layer with all the copy/paste required. After pasting i advice to merge (Ctrl+E) with "BG Copy". 4) Create a spare channel by right clicking "Composite Magenta" on the Channels tab 5) Delete "BG Copy" 6) Replace Spare channel by Magenta channel (Right click Spare channel and choose "Load to ??? Magenta". Hintergrund Magenta in your case) Don't forget to reset the channels tab (circular arrow in the upper right corner of the channels tab). Quote

What do you intend by „portions“: copy one color channel and paste it into a different color channel of the same layer copy one color channel and paste it a color channel of a different layer opt 1, but only the area of and active pixel selection opt 2, but only the area of an active pixel selection Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | MBP M3 Windows 11 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 | Dell 27“ 4K iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps.
