Geometry Subtract on Fonts?

Recommended Posts

I have attached a screen recording showing my steps - in the first step you can see that when I try to subtract only the part of the layer below the text it does not really work - it looks weird. In the second step using a different font it works the way I'd like it to work with the first font 😅

Any Ideas what the cause of this is? A setting I am overlooking or unaware of?

The reason I want to subtract the lower layer with the lines (but only below the actual text) is because the font is semi transparent due to its line design and the blue lines in the layer below are visible through it which I do no not want!

Thanks for any and all tips!

I don't see anything unusual here.

But in general, you may want to use Compound shapes rather than destructive operations. You'll have more freedom in experimenting. Simply option-click the button. You can then interactively change the boolean operators in the Layers panel.

It's due to the nature of that Prisma font, which isn't an filled outlined font per se. - Another way would be, to find a similar character font and perform the geom subtract with that, then afterwards place the Prisma font text behind etc.
