Live Filter Opacity: setting to 0% = setting to 100%

What happens:

In Affinity Photo v 2.0.3, open an image in Photo Persona.

Apply a Live Filter (I tested with Gaussian Blur and High Pass).

Set the Blend Mode to anything other than Normal.

Gradually reduce the opacity from 100% to 0%. The effect is lessened until the slider reaches 0%, when the effect is applied at 100% opacity.

Video illustrates the effect with Gaussian Blur, Blend Mode set to Darken:

What I would expect to happen: setting the filter layer's opacity to 0% should result in the in filter having no effect, as it does in Normal Blend Mode.

Affinity Photo 2.5.3,  Affinity Designer 2.5.3, Affinity Publisher 2.5.3, Mac OSX 14.5, 2018 MacBook Pro 15" Intel.

Pro tip: if there's a layer that you intend to have 0% Opacity, the solution is simply to not create the layer/adjustment in the first place. Saves time and complexity, plus it avoids your frustrating scenario completely!

Or use the Zero Opacity Butto…, er, Hide Layer Button instead. :)

For the record, the bug is not in v1 yet.

MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2

The issue "Live filters with blend mode treat 0% opacity as 100%" (REF: AFP-5866) has now been fixed by the developers.
This fix is included in build 2.1.0.1706 (or later) which is already available as a customer beta and will be included in the next release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.

If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please make a new thread referencing this one.
