Problem with Affinity Photo and Designer iOS M1 with NAS on

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

in principle all parts of the programme (V.2) run perfectly on an iMac M1. I have a Synology NAS running in my network. Unfortunately, the Affinity programmes can only be started when the NAS is switched on. The programmes do not start when the NAS is switched off. After some time, I get the Apple message that the server "NAS" is not accessible. However, no programme parts or data that should actually be important for Affinity are stored on the NAS. It is only possible that my NAS was switched on during the installation. I did not have this problem with the V.1 version.
I have also completely uninstalled Affinity Photo and then reinstalled it (with the NAS switched off). Unfortunately no change. Does anyone have a tip?
Many greetings from Germany from Axel

First, Serif recommends that you not work directly on files stored on a NAS or other non-local storage location because of possible file corruption & data loss.

That said, you could try starting the app with the NAS online & in Preferences > General untick "Reopen document(s) on startup.

Hello all,
thank you for your tip. I have already tried that. It was my first idea. I had then even completely reinstalled the software without being connected to the NAS. I had disconnected the network connection completely (only to activate the software I turned it back on). I then also stopped opening documents from the NAS....the problem remains after turning on the NAS for the first time though.
Now I got the info from the developers that the problem is known there. I'm looking forward to a solution soon. With the last update there was not yet any improvement.
Many greetings from Germany
Axel

Hello.

Did you find solution with this problem?

Because for me this is big problem. In work I use NAS and then when I am in home I cannot use Affinity.

Please repair this as soon as possible.

Thx.

I've just made this FAQ available:

Hi Leigh,

thank you for the message and the post. I just tried to delete the entry in the library. In doing so, I found that there is no ~/Library/Application Support/Affinity "xxx"/ entry on my Mac at all. I can of course find the location but there is no reference to any Affinity area.
Do you have another tip for me or the other people who have this problem?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Best regards

Axel

Do you have anything list under ~/Library/Containers/Affinity Designer 2/Data/Library/Application Support/ ?

The issue "App attempts to reconnect to disconnected SMB share on launch" (REF: AFB-7024) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.1.0.1728".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.
