RobynS Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 Just upgraded to Photos 2. I have been using ACDsee to manage all my images but now it is not able to show thumbnails of the new afphoto files. I also do not see thumbnails using Finder on my mac. ACDSee says this is an Apple problem, do you agree? Quote
markw Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 Hello RobynS and welcome to the Affinity forums🙂 First things first, in Photo v2; Preferences > General, do you have 'Save thumbnails with documents' selected? I think what @markw suggested about checking in AP 2 preferences to see if saving thumbnails is enabled is probably the solution for this issue. Seems I mixed that in mind up with another webp Win related thread! - For Affinity app format files on MacOS, Serif includes & installs a Quick Look add-on enhancement with every MacOS version app, so that the MacOS Finder can show up thumbnail previews of those. So what markw suggested applies here to check, since if there are no thumb images saved together in any Affinity doc file, then MacOS Finder might not be able to show any thumb preview. - Behavior should be easily to test via performing a Quick Look operation in Finder with an Affinity file, with the option enabled & disabled. RobynS Posted December 28, 2022 Author Posted December 28, 2022 Thank you all for replying so quickly. I do have 'save thumbnails' selected. I will check the quick look now Quote
RobynS Posted December 28, 2022 Author Posted December 28, 2022 Ok, while Finder does not show thumbnails in Icon mode, the quick look does work. The older Affinity files show a thumbnail icon. Quote
RobynS Posted December 28, 2022 Author Posted December 28, 2022 Having "quick look"ed at the files, I restarted the computer and presto there were thumbnails. So I guess it was just a glitch. Thanks for your help! Quote
