Another kind mix colours for gradients. i can show idea two gradients what are both made with Photo but right one is simulation (i cannot do it for all colours). these use different colour space calculate in beetween values. your current way i think use RGB values and other idea uses Hue Saturation Lightness values. i anyone what do graphics i bet like my idea and is i think also easy code. of cousress needs conver  colours to HSL space and back to original colour space but still.
and i have another tool what allows this but is palette based program and does not have vector shapes either.

AMD 7 7700X 64gigabytes ram 4Tb SSD for all kind projects. Affinity Apps v2 version. Windows 11 Pro.

Just choose HSL instead of RGB

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
