Affinity Publisher - No Spell Check Pop up for word corrections

Recommended Posts

I am trying to spell check my document on Affinity Publisher. I have done this before with no issue. However, when I select check spelling now, the word is highlighted, but no pop up appears to show me the options. I can right click and change the word manually but it then doesn't move on to another misspelled word.

I can't find any advice online past what to do if it's the language settings that are wrong, but the spell check works usually and it is simply the pop up window that is missing.

Thank you!

Just to be sure: Are you using Publisher or Publisher 2?

Also, are you using Mac or Windows?

Is the pop-up (context) menu not appearing at all or is it appearing but without the options to Learn or Ignore the word?

If you're on macOS and the popup is appearing but without the spelling options, this is a known issue with the macOS spell checker and isn't an issue with Affinity. The workaround, until Apple fixes this, is to close the popup menu by clicking elsewhere and then right click the work again. It may take a few attempts to get it to work so it can be frustrating. I've seen this bug in Apple's apps, too, but it's more common in Publisher because the amount of content being spell checked is a factor in when it happens.

  • 2 weeks later...

I am having the same issue (Ver 1.10.6.1665) I have no way of of spell checking

Windows OS

Have opened a report just on two weeks ago and nothing. (I do understand they are busy, but..)

I'll ask the same question here, if it's an issue with release (as it happened after update) will there be a further update, or do I need to bite the bullet and just buy Ver 2?

Getting a little desperate here as I need to finish this book by Thursday (2 weeks ago wasn't so bad, although a slight case of panic is creeping in)

Hi @johno60

Which Windows OS 10, 11? Which version number. Are all updates installed?
Possibly a dotNET component is faulty or outdated. Please run the Microsoft NET Repair Tool once.
